How can we help?

Once Upon a Smile can provide you with emotional and practical support at your time of need to enable you to adjust to a new life without your loved one.

We support children and families when a parent/guardian, grandparent or sibling has died. We pride ourselves in tailoring our support to the needs of each individual family.

We accept online referrals from health, education and other oragnisations, as well as self-referrals.

Children’s Bereavement Support

At Once Upon a Smile we have lots of creative programmes where children and young people can come along to remember their loved ones and to express their thoughts and feelings in fun and safe environment.

We believe that no child should grieve alone and the support offered will be based on their individual needs.

Respite Breaks

After the death of a loved one, a short break away can be invaluable.

It allows family time to reintegrate and spend some much needed time together in a different environment.

Our respite breaks can be anything from a week’s holiday, a couple of days away, a day out to a concert or football match, or something as simple as a trip to the cinema… Our respite breaks are chosen by you, for you and your family

Practical Support

Having suffered a bereavement, naturally you will not feel at your best to handle all aspects of life.

We understand that suffering a bereavement is traumatic enough but often a bereavement can result in secondary losses. This can be financial with the loss of income and that can add extra stress, especially if you have children.
